In the end, the stock market is just a reflection of us. In our markets we find dreamers and are reassured. In our markets we separate the fads from the classics. And we plumb the depth of human nature? Seven deadly sins, anyone? To entertain and stimulate your group with unique reflections on our markets, our country and ourselves, contact Investeach!

Talk #1: You are Wealthier Than You Think!

For: Middle and high school students.

Synopsis: The popular culture has but one message: To truly make it in life one has to be a smashing financial success. Anything less just won’t do. The media fawns over the 1%ers, breathlessly covering their every adventure. And as much as we’d like to deny it, the message gets through. Bruno Mars doesn’t sing, “I want to be a billionaire, so freakin’ bad” for nothing. But it’s a dangerous game that can lead to overwhelming stress, disillusionment and worse.

In this talk we walk back from this brink to reflect on other types of wealth. It’s been said that if you don’t have your health, you don’t have anything. We could ask Steve Jobs about his billions but, er, we’ll be waiting a while for an answer. In addition to health, we explore still other types of wealth, including have close friends and family for support, having more freedom than we appreciate, and more.

The point of this talk is to have students reflect on the entirety of their circumstances and be mindful that their path to happiness if through a balanced approach to life!

Time: 40 to 60 minutes.

Talk #2: You’re Not the Only One!

For: A workforce or group of adults to whom an employer or sponsor wants to provide enrichment

Synopsis: Many adults (many more than we think) carry a certain dis-ease, a gnawing sensation that visits them every now and again. The problem? They’ve reached the age of majority and yet, they are largely financially illiterate. So ashamed are these folks of their condition that they don’t dare ask a question, lest it reveal their ignorance! In response, we offer the following saying: “The only bad question is the one not asked!”

This talk is designed to provide an introduction to the financial markets in an engaging, fast-paced and interactive way. We’ll start with the idea of compounding (of both savings and prices) and the relationship between risk and rate of return. We’ll talk about how the markets work and the common investments, like stocks and bonds, that are available.  We’ll look at the players in the markets. How is an investment bank different than a commercial bank? Mutual fund different than a hedge fund? Next, we will talk about what’s currently happening, both politically and economically, in the U.S. and around the world. We’ll look at all sides of each issue to ensure that audience members can draw their own conclusions. Remember, we have nothing to sell and therefore can speak our minds!

Time: 40 to 60 minutes.
